This is the worst Real Madrid of the last four seasons

You have to go back to the 2008/09 season to find a poorer start than the one that Mourinho's men have made. Then, Madrid had 29 points and were fifth at this point.

The numbers from Real Madrid's first part of the season won't be happy reading for their Portuguese coach. His team, after sixteen rounds of fixtures in La Liga BBVA, have the club's worst record in the last five campaigns.

In the face of Barcelona's dominance and after the 2-2 draw against Espanyol which left Real Madrid 13 points from the 'azulgrana', Mourinho admitted that "the Liga is practically impossible."

Things haven't been worse in half a decade. You have to go back to the 2008/09 season to find a poorer start than the one that Mourinho's men have made. Then, Madrid had 29 points and were fifth. Now they have 33 and a third.

Everything after that year, when Juande Ramos was in charge of the team, was better than what Mou is doing now. In 2009/10 Real Madrid had 38 points and were second at this point; in 2010/11 they had 41 points and were also second, and in 2011/12 they had 40 points and were leaders.

The Portuguese coach has been responsible for the best numbers and also the worst in this period. This season, he's let 15 points slip, one more than in the entire 2011/12 campaign. The spectacular figures of last May won't be repeated, as mathematically it's now impossible for Madrid to reach 100 points. If they win all the remaining games, it would be 99.

Mourinho isn't used to these kinds of situations, as he recognised after the match against Espanyol. "I've never been in a position like this, losing so many points and having the team so far from its objectives. It's new for me", he affirmed.
