Former Blues legend wants to come back to Stamford Bridge to keep himself in shape ahead of the Africa Nations Cup.
Didier Drogba wants to head back to Chelsea – but only to train with the European champions.
The Chelsea legend is keen to rejoin his old club after Shanghai Shenhua’s season came to an end.
Drogba, 34, has already ruled out a Premier League return to thwart Liverpool, who were plotting a loan move.
Instead Drogba wants to maintain his fitness at Stamford Bridge – provided he can iron out an insurance agreement with the Chinese club.
The Ivory Coast striker is due to play in the African Nations Cup in January.
Drogba said: “It will first be necessary that I ask permission to Shanghai and Chelsea also.
“If everyone agrees, it is possible I will go and train there until the African Cup starts.
“But that is all it will be.”
