Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charltonhas expressed his discomfort at the possibility ofJosé Mourinho taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson and becoming the next Manchester United manager.
Last weekend Ferguson appeared to be in favour of Mourinho one day taking the hotseat at Old Trafford, declaring "he can manage anywhere, absolutely". But an interview with Charlton in 'The Guardian'has revealed that the former England and Manchester United forward, now an ambassador for Manchester United, is less keen on the Portuguese.
A sticking point is Mourinho's aggressive behaviour, such as when he gouged Tito Vilanova in the eye after the Supercopa de España final in 2011.
"A United manager wouldn't do that," Charlton said.
"Mourinho is a really good coach but that's as far as I would go really. He pontificates too much for my liking," added Charlton, but the 75-year-old admitted: "He's a good manager, though. He's the manager of Real Madrid and we expect to play them in the Champions League by the end of the season."
Charlton also played down the supposed good relations between Mourinho and Ferguson. The two managers met up before Real Madrid's Champions League tie with Manchester City in November, and Mourinho responded to Ferguson's comments by saying "That's what friends are like. They always say nice things about you, they are always on your side. He [Ferguson] is a proper friend and that's why he said that."
"He doesn't like him too much, though," said Charlton, when discussing whether Ferguson admired Mourinho.
